Paul Hoggard who is English has been a sand artist since 1991. While his wife who is Dutch has been a sand artist since 1999. As individuals, they have many acchomplishments under their belts, such as major international magizines (Times of London, The Observer, The Daily Mail etc), TV recognition and being know as leading figures in the sand sculpture work.
Together their talent is off the charts. The couple met at a sand sculpture park in 2003, and have been together ever since. They live in Bulgaria and have bases in the UK and the Netherlands. The two manage their company Sandartist Ltd, which allows them to travel the world, teaching and competing in competions with other talented sand artist.
Looking at their website, I knew little about sand sculptures, I always thought everything was made from sand. However, sometimes they need special sand, becuase the beach sand does not work. Also at times they use wood, plastic or buckets to build some of the larger structures. And of course they use tons of water, since has to be shaped.
