Stacey Lee Webber creates some unique peices out of coins, which I didn't know even exsist, but thats what being an artist is all about being unique; but im broke so I would never think to use money for art.
Webber was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelor of fine arts in 2005 from Ball State University and her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
"I come from a lineage of laborers- men and women who worked corn farms, printing presses, beer trucks, and construction sites. I value skilled physical labor and am proud to follow in their footsteps by using my hands in everyday life."
I admire when artist take their family traditions, and transform them in their artwork, just as Webber does; its a different style of art that not many people are exposed to.
Webber recontextualizes everyday objects and materials.
My favriote of Webbers works, are her tools she creates out of pennies. she crafts each penny to sculpt around the tools. Webber uses the tools give credit to hand labors, who use their power over machine power.
The latter, shows repittion, pattern and really emphasizes hard labor that Webber wants her views to experience.
